Tornados take five of six singles matches in win over Limestone

Brevard, N.C. - The Brevard College women’s tennis team took five of the six singles matches against visiting Limestone College on Thursday afternoon on their way to the 7-2 victory over the Saints.

With the win, Brevard improves to 3-2, while the Saints fall to 1-5.

The Saints opened up the match defeating Brevard top doubles team of Claire Dillman and Kim Dixon as Eve Aubry and Jimen Munoz Quiroga won, 8-6. However, the Tornados took the points at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles with Kayley Duval and Merek Slagle topping Courtney Guerrieri and Lauren Bolender 8-3 and Sara Douglas and Ellie Bartholomew won their match for the Tornados.

Shaeffer and Hostetter avenged their doubles defeat by winning at No. 1 and No. 2 singles for Brevard, while Nyman, Douglas and Bartholomew also won their singles matches at No. 4, 5 and 6 for Coach Paul Thomson. Labus fell at No. 3 singles for the Tornados, dropping her match to Bolender to end the day.

The Tornados are back in action on Monday, March 8th, as Brevard travels to Hilton Head, S.C. to take on Upper Iowa, with first serve coming at 8 a.m.
