The Tornados were unable to find the net in the loss
Young Harris, Ga. - The Brevard College women’s soccer team was unable to keep up with the offensive firepower of the Young Harris women on Tuesday afternoon. The Tornados were downed 3-0 falling to 2-4-1 on the season.
It took just over 27 minutes for Young Harris to score. Kelley Lyness took a shot from 35 yards out beating Jordan Box (Hoover, Ala.), who started in net for the Tornados. The goal gave the Mountain Lions a 1-0 lead which was the score heading into halftime.
Brittany Webster (Stafford, Va.) started the second half for Brevard in goal. She faced 11 shots on goal in the half and stopped nine of them.
Emily Villas was able to beat Webster when she put one in right at the 77th minute. With just over five minutes remaining, Young Harris added on to their 2-0 lead when Whitney Thomas scored in a 1-on-1 with Webster. The goal gave the Mountain Lions the final 3-0 edge.
Jamie Bundy (Platte City, Mo.) led the offensive attack for Brevard. She fired two of the Tornados seven shots in the match. BC was outshot by Young Harris 22-7 in the loss.
The Tornados are back in action on Saturday when they play host to Lincoln Memorial University in their first South Atlantic Conference match. Kick-off is set for 2 p.m. at the Brevard College Soccer Field.
