Tornados pace Brevard Middle School at home cross country meet

Brevard set up the course and directed the athletes on their way to the finish line

Brevard, N.C. - The Brevard College Cross Country team took a day out of their schedule to help out at the Brevard Middle School cross country race, held on the campus of Brevard College on September 22nd.

The Tornados men’s and women’s cross country teams marked off a two-mile course surrounding the back area of the BC campus, including the BC track. The BC Cross Country team was joined by runners from the men’s Brevard High School team as they lined the course by marking every 200 meters and setting out cones and jack o’ lanterns every 400 meters as the teams guided the middle school runners through the course.

Brevard College head cross country coach Jack Daniels had the following to say about the event, "I was impressed with the runners and the level of talent they had and I hope all who participated will keep it up and continue their careers in both high school and in the collegiate level. I encourage all who had a good time at the event to keep it up."

The Tornados cross country team continues the 2010 season on Saturday, October 9th, as they travel to Greenville, S.C. to participate in the Gene Mullin Furman Cross Country Invitational held on the campus of Furman University.
