Bluffton, S.C. – The Brevard College Tornados men’s tennis team defeated the East Stroudsburg Warriors 8-0 on Sunday at Bluffton High School in the opener of their spring trip to Hilton Head Island.

Brevard improved to 2-4 on the year, while East Stroudsburg fell to 0-1.

In singles action, Scott McCormick gave the Tornados their first point of the afternoon, defeating Will Norrris in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0 at the #1 singles spot. Sam MacNeil was able to take down Jared Rosenberg in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3. Cole Altizer, Beau Wills, Jarred Fisher, and Shane Apps each took down their singles opponents in straight sets as well, leading the Tornados to a 6-0 lead after singles action.

The Tornados were only able to compete in two of three doubles matches due to time restrictions. McCormick/Wills were able to take down Norris/Ryan Baxter in a quick 8-2 pro-set, while Fisher/Apps took down Zach Ontell/Mark Covert 8-2 as well.

Brevard continues their spring trip with a match against Chestnut Hill Griffins at 11:30 a.m. on Monday.
