Hoard paces Tornados after first day of the SAC tournament

Freshman sits seven strokes back with one to play

Conover, N.C. - T.J. Hoard led the Tornados through the first two rounds of the 2011 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference tournament, sitting seven strokes back with one round to play as the freshman is tied for 12th overall at the Rock Barn Golf & Spa.

Hoard is in a four-way tie for 12th place, going two over in the first round to shoot a 74, and then in the second round of the day, carded two birdies, but a double bogey on hole no. 1 gave him a 78 in the second round to sit with a 152 after the first day, seven strokes behind Wingate’s Clifford Blanquicet.

Jonathan Poole sat in a tie for 20th after the first round, carding a 77 on the opening 18 holes, but the second round, with the wind picking up, saw his score drop to an 84 to sit in a three-way tie for 34th after day one.

Thomas Rennie is currently in a tie for 42nd overall after the first day, carding an 82 and an 85 in the first two rounds to finish the first day with a 167 on his scorecard. Michael Stamper faded in the second round to sit in 48th overall.

The Tornados will be back on the course tomorrow morning for the third and final round of the 2011 Food Lion SAC tournament.
