BC will have six games at the BC Soccer Field
Brevard, N.C. - Coach Juan Mascaro has released the 2011 Brevard College men’s soccer schedule, in conjunction with the BC Sports Information Department.
The Tornados finished up the 2010 season by making it to the postseason for the first time in the program’s short NCAA history, reaching the quarterfinals of the Food Lion South Atlantic Conference tournament.
Brevard will look to return this year, with a grueling schedule on course as the Tornados will take on a pair of NCAA Division I opponents in the exhibition preseason, as well as a pair of NCAA Tournament participants during the regular season. On tap for the schedule are six home contests at the BC Soccer Field, while Brevard will take to the road 10 times in the 2011 year. BC will also have one neutral site contest, held at Eagle Field at the Winthrop Soccer Complex on the campus of Winthrop University.
Brevard opens the season with a pair of exhibitions as they travel down to Rock Hill, S.C. on August 26th to take on NCAA Division I Winthrop. This will be the fifth consecutive year the Tornados have taken on the Eagles, dating back to the 2007 season.
Brevard will remain on the road as they travel to Boiling Springs, N.C. to take on Gardner-Webb, their second Division I opponent of the 2011 season. This will be the first time the two teams have met since the Tornados moved into the NCAA Division II back in 2008.
Following the exhibition season, Brevard returns home to open up the 2011 regular season by hosting Erskine at the BC Soccer Field on September 1st, with kickoff slated at 5 p.m.
The Tornados return to the road for their next two contests as they travel to Belmont Abbey on September 3rd, before making the trip to USC Aiken on September 7th.
Brevard welcomes a familiar foe to Brevard, N.C. on September 10th, as the Tornados host Bluefield College for the first time since 2006, when the Tornados and Rams were both a part of the Appalachian Athletic Conference.
Following the Tornados-Rams battle, the Tornados take to the road for the remainder of September as they take on UNC Pembroke in a neutral site contest, hosted by Winthrop University. The Tornados will battle the Braves in Rock Hill, S.C. at Eagle Field on September 13th.
Conference play ensues in the next match as Brevard goes on a tour throughout the SAC as they travel to Jefferson City, Tenn. on September 17th to take on Carson-Newman. The Tornados remain on the road as they travel to Moretz Stadium to take on Lenoir-Rhyne in the next game on September 21st, before returning to Tennessee for contests against Lincoln Memorial (Sept. 24) and Tusculum (Sept. 28).
BC makes their return to campus on October 1st for the SAC home opener as the Tornados welcome rival Mars Hill to the BC Soccer Field.
Brevard returns to the road as they head into their toughest stretch of the season as they open on October 3rd against Queens (N.C.). Following their game against the Royals, Brevard makes the trip to 2010 SAC regular season champion Wingate as the Tornados return to the site of their thrilling SAC tournament quarterfinal contest as they take on the Bulldogs on October 8th. The Tornados end the stretch against Anderson, a 2010 NCAA Sweet 16 participant. Brevard hosts the Trojans in Brevard, N.C. on October 12th.
The Tornados close out the season with a quartet of games as they host St. Andrews Presbyterian, before heading to the road for a pair of games against Virginia Intermont and SAC opponent Newberry, before hosting the season finale and Senior Day at home against Catawba on October 29th.
