Peacock named Tornado Athlete of the Week
Canadian Sophomore is second Women's Soccer player to win honor
The Brevard College Athletic Department is pleased to announce that Nikki Peacock has been named the Tornado Athlete of the Week for the fourth week of the 2008-09 athletic season. The Uxbridge, Ontario native earned 36 of the 56 votes cast by visitors of BCTornados.com. Her 64.3% share of the votes is the highest in any TAW ballot this season.
Peacock, a sophomore midfielder on Coach Liz Stojetz's Women's Soccer team, has been instrumental in the Lady Tornados' 4-4 record through games played on September 23. The highlight of her season came on September 17 in a match against North Greenville. With the game scoreless in the 58th minute, Peacock possessed a perfect corner kick from Kelly Harris is drilled the ball into the back of the net for the game's only goal. The game-winner was the first goal of the season for Peacock and the third of her Brevard College career.
Peacock is the second Women's footballer to earn the award. Freshman forward Bailey Varley was the TAW for Week 2.
The Tornado Athlete of the Week is determined by a fan poll on the frontpage of BCTornados.com. Candidates for the Tornado Athlete of the Week award are announced and voting opens every Saturday night at 10 p.m. Voting closes on Tuesday morning at 10 a.m.
