Koivu and Rennie tie for eighth in the field at the Pfeiffer Intercollegiate
Badin, N.C. - The Brevard College Men’s Golf team dropped five strokes from their first round total, finishing with the third lowest round of the second day, but it was not enough to move up as the Tornados finished third overall in the two-day Pfeiffer Intercollegiate at the Badin Resort & Inn.
Kim Koivu and Thomas Rennie were the top two Brevard finishers, tying for eighth overall in the event with match scores of 144, 2-over for the event. Koivu carded a 73, 2-over for the final round, while Rennie matched his first round total, shooting matching 72s over the tournament to tie for eight.
T.J. Hoard recorded the lowest round of the weekend for the Tornados, going 1-under par for the final 18 holes of the tournament as the sophomore carded a 70 on the day. After his first round 75, Hoard placed just outside the top 10, finishing one stroke back with a 145 to sit in 12th overall.
Michael Stamper also recorded a lower score in the second round, coming in two strokes below his day one total in carding a 76 on the final day. Stamper’s 154 put him in 29th overall for the Tornados and Coach Dave Nelson.
Brevard is back on the links next Monday as they make the trip to Greeneville, Tenn. to take part in the two day Tusculum Fall Golf Classic hosted by Tusculum College. Play begins on Monday, September 26th.
