Brevard, N.C. – Brevard College announced its 2008 football schedule on Tuesday, a challenging 10-game slate that includes six home games.
The Tornados will once again play a full South Atlantic Conference schedule in 2008, which makes up the final seven contests of the season for BC.
Brevard College opens the 2008 season on Saturday, August 30, as the Tornados host UNC Pembroke – the two teams first ever meeting on the gridiron.
The home opener is the first of six home contests of the 2008 season that Coach Paul Hamilton’s squad will play. BC will host Pikeville College on Saturday, September 9, their second game of the year. The Tornados will then open up SAC play at home as BC will host the Bears’ of Lenoir-Rhyne on Saturday, September 27, and then turn around and welcome Wingate University to Brevard the following week on Saturday, October 4.
The Tornados home slate will wrap up with Carson-Newman College on October 25 as part of the Homecoming Weekend festivities and then BC finishes their 2008 season with a home game against Newberry College on Saturday, November 11.
BC will hit the road to face Chowan University on September 13, Tusculum College October 11, Mars Hill College on October 18, and Catawba College on November 1 – all of which are Saturday afternoon contests.
Coach Hamilton’s Tornados compiled a 2-9 record last season in their first year as provisional members of the South Atlantic Conference and second year as NCAA Division II provisional members.
