Brevard falls to North Greenville in season finale, 19-9
Tigerville, S.C. - Brevard College saw their 12 game winning streak snapped in the season finale on the road as the Tornados fell on Tuesday afternoon at Ashmore Field to North Greenville, 19-9.
Casey Burnette (0-1) suffered the loss for the Tornados (27-21) in the game as Brevard ran out six pitchers to the mound against the Crusaders (26-20) in their final contest before the 2012 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Baseball tournament. Dylan Fulk (1-0) pitched five innings in relief for North Greenville in picking up his first win of the season.
Tarron Robinson led the Brevard offensive efforts in the game, leading the way with four hits in the contest, scoring three times, while Randy O’Dell added three RBIs for the Tornados.
Markus Duckworth and Derek Fulmer led the Crusaders on the afternoon, also recording four hits apiece in the game, while Andrew Lawrence drove in four on the game as North Greenville used a pair of seven run innings to pull away from Brevard to take the win.
Kody Miller earned the start for the Tornados pitching three innings in his final regular season start with the blue and white, while Burnette, Jacob Koontz, Jonathan Bethea, Chas Welch and Zach Jones all saw action for Brevard in the game.
Brevard returns to the road as the Tornados begin the 2012 postseason at McNair Field in Forest City, N.C. as the three-seed Tornados take on the four-seed Wingate Bulldogs. First pitch between Brevard and Wingate is set for 7:30 p.m.
