Two more join the ranks of the 2012 women's soccer team

Sessions and Beam join the BC ranks

Brevard, N.C. - Brevard College Women’s Soccer Coach Shigeyoshi Shinohara is pleased to announce that Currin Sessions and Sara Beam have committed to come to Brevard and play on the 2012 Brevard College Tornados women’s soccer team.

The incoming freshman duo join commits Alexis Griffis, Clair Deese, Taylor Hembree, Nicole Miranda, Maddi Holt, Whitney Wellman and Katherine Nickels as new members of the 2012-2013 BC Women's Soccer team.

Sessions comes to Brevard from Idaho Falls, Idaho, where she lined up at defender at Hillcrest High School under Coach Dave Coffman. A 5-8 athlete, Sessions was a two-time All-Conference First Team selection in both 2010 and 2011, serving as Team Captain on the school and spring team from 2010-2012. Sessions started for the Knights since her sophomore season. She was also a starter of Team Xtreme in club soccer, playing with the squad from 2008-2012.

Off the field, Sessions was a member of the National Honor Society and received the High County Conference Academic Award in 2010-2011. She is the daughter of Chelisse and Roger Sessions.

"Currin has been playing soccer for a long time and is very dedicated to the sport, loving the game," said Coach Shinohara. "She is physically strong and a great passer from the backline. She also possesses great character on and off the field and is a leader in her program. In addition to her playing ability, her positive attitude will also help make an impact on the program."

Beam comes to Brevard from Davidson, N.C., where she lined up at both center midfield and the forward positions at Statesville Christian School under Coach Kelly Taylor. Beam was a key component at both Statesville Christian and Saint Stephens, as the 5-4 athlete went to the state playoffs four times in her high school career, including two conference championship teams. She was also a two-time All-Conference First Team selection and was a member of the SPAA regular season winners her sophomore season. She is the daughter of Mike and Nancy Beam.

"Sara was a crucial part in two very successful high school programs and was a member of the core group on her club team as well," commented Coach Shinohara. "She is an attacking player, lining up at both forward and midfielder and is always around the ball. She knows how to find the back of the net and it will be a delight to see her scoring for the Tornados in the 2012 season."

The Tornados compete in the NCAA Division II and the South Atlantic Conference.
