Five men's golf signees commit to Brevard College
Calac, Eddins, Lehmann, Nordahl and Vanni join the Tornados
Brevard, N.C. - Brevard College Golf Coach David Nelson is pleased to announce Paul Calac, Hunter Eddins, Petter Lehmann, Johan Nordahl and Sami Vanni have committed to come to Brevard and play on the 2012-2013 Tornados men’s golf team.
"This recruiting class will be exceptional. I anticipate all these players will have the ability to contribute immediately," said Coach Nelson. "Many of them already have tournament experience at the national level, which proves to be invaluable".
Calac comes to Brevard from Valley Center, Calif. and Valley Center High School where he played under Coach Rick Darland. Calac was a First Team All-Valley League selection and earned MVP honors for the team in his senior season. In addition to golf, Calac played baseball at Valley Center. Off the course, he is an avid member of the Future Farmers of America, earning Chapter and State Degrees as an FFA Greenhand. He is also a two-time Grand Champion in the Market Steer at the San Diego County Fair and was the California State Fair FFA Beef Champion.
He was also earned Rotary Student of the Month honors, as well as being selected to the San Diego Union Tribune All-Academic Team. He is the son of David and Michelle Calac.
Eddins comes to Brevard from Wake Forest, N.C. and Knightdale High School where he played under Coach Sally Combs. He was a First Team All-Conference selection, earning the Coaches award and Most Improved award while serving as team captain with the Knights. He also competed in the regionals twice as an individual. In addition to golf, Eddins was also a member of the Knightdale baseball and basketball teams. Off the course and in the classroom, he was a named on the A/B Honor Roll four times. He is the son of Linda and Barry Eddins.
Lehmann comes to Brevard from Djursholm, Stockholm where he played at the Danderyds Gymnasium. In addition to golf, Lehmann also played ice hocky. He is the son of Per and Lena Englund Lehmann.
Nordahl comes to Brevard from Kullavik, Sweden, where he played under Coach Martin Alergard. Nordahl earned the 1bb ranking in Sweden and has played on the Swedish Junior tour since he turned 12 years old. Last year, he was selected to the Swedish National team to compete in Spain and served as club champion in 2010. In addition to golf, Nordahl also played basketball at Katrinelundsgymnasiet, winning the junior tournament with the team and was elected the MVP. He is the son of Soren Nordahl.
Vanni comes to Brevard from Helsinki, Finland and Pohjais-Haagan Yhteiskoulu where he played under Coach Jauko Mikkola. Vanni was the winner of Southern Finland’s boy under the age of 21 ranking in 2010. In addition to golf, Vanni played ice hockey and basketball. He is the son of Mikka Vanni.
"This 2013 recruiting class will be exceptional and should be every bit as good as our 2005 class, which ended up ranked #1 in the nation (NAIA) by Golfstat," commented Nelson. Brevard College is a member of the NCAA Division II and the South Atlantic Conference.
