BC Takes Two in Tri-Match

Spartanburg, S.C.- The BC women's volleyball improved their
record to 6-0 with two wins on Saturday, defeating Converse College in straight
sets before edging Emmanuel College 3-2.
The Tornados handled the Converse Valkyries in straight sets to open the
afternoon, 25-17, 25-19, 27-25. Kortney Conner led BC with 11 kills and five
service aces to go along with six digs.
Fatima Gharachorloo chipped in eight kills at a
hitting percentage of .615. Conner and Gharachorloo both benefited from the
performance of junior setter Kayla Hanus, who recorded 22 assists in addition
to nine digs against Converse.
In the second contest of the afternoon, the Tornados defeated the Emmanuel
College Lions in a hard-fought 3-2 match, 21-25, 25-20, 25-19, 25-14, 15-11.
Gharachorloo and Conner came up big for the Tornados once again, combining for
27 kills and 16 digs.
Trailing 7-3 in the deciding 5th set, the Tornados went on a furious 12-4 run to seal the match victory.
Hanus produced a match-high 33 assists in addition to nine digs. Hanus, Conner and Megan Clark each had a pair of blocks for the Tornados.
The Tornados open South Atlantic Conference play this Friday, September 14th as they host the Anderson University Trojans at 7 p.m. in Boshamer Gymnasium.
