Late Goal Sinks Tornados

Brevard, N.C- Converse's Georgia Jones found the back of the net at 77:58  to lift the Valkyries 1-0 over the BC women's soccer team on Monday evening.

Jones dribbled into the box from the left side in a one-on-one opportunity against BC keeper Brittany Webster, with her shot deflecting off the right goal post into the net. Webster turned the Valkyries away at all other opportunities, recording six saves in the game.

The Tornados had an opportunity to tie the game at 1-1 on a free kick at 84:18, but Chantel Azevedo's shot missed just high. Taylor Hembree and Althea Dunn put shots on goal for the Tornados in the first half, but Converse keep Alyssa Schmitt was perfect in recording two saves.

Brevard hosts Carson-Newman in South Atlantic Conference play on Wednesday afternoon, October 10th at 2 p.m.
