BC Assistant Holli Flippo Continues Her Playing Career
Brevard, N.C.- Brevard College assistant coach Holli Flippo’s playing career with the Tornados ended last March, but the former BC standout has found a way to continuing her playing career outside of Boshamer Gymnasium.
Flippo is a member of the semi-professional Lady Panthers women’s basketball team of Asheville, an organization whose goal is to "use basketball as a teaching tool to elevate the minds of people in a positive way, no matter what age, and most importantly to promote healthy lifestyles, especially in females. Our goal as a team is to be role-models in Asheville and the surrounding areas, to younger generations so that they may keep their focus and dreams alive."
"This is an exciting opportunity for Holli as she is able to continue playing basketball beyond her collegiate experience," BC head coach Shannon Reid said. "I hope this continues to open doors for women's basketball players who want to compete at a high level within their own country and community. I'm proud to see her still representing Brevard College and our women's basketball program in a positive way."
This weekend the Lady Panthers will combine with the South Carolina Storm to play in an invitational tournament in Norfolk, Viriginia.
The two teams, known together as Hoop Phi, will form to take on the USS Bataan Lady Gators three times over the weekend on the grounds of the Norfolk Naval Base.
The team will receive a tour of Naval Station Norfolk, as the base is also known, as well as the USS Bataan and downtown Norfolk as part of the experience.
"This is an amazing experience, and I am excited I got the opportunity to continue to play the game I love," Flippo said.
