Brevard College Women's Soccer Continues Road Swing at North Greenville

BC seeks its fourth consecutive win

The Brevard College women’s soccer team continues its road swing with a trip to North Greenville Saturday evening with action slated to begin at 7 p.m. at North Greenville Soccer Field in Tigerville, S.C.

• The Tornados are playing four of their next five matches on the road and are off to their best start since 2009.

• On Wednesday, BC corralled some last minute heroics when Lindsay Pritchard drilled the game-winner in double overtime to give the Tornados a 2-1 victory against Converse. Katherine Nickels gave the Tornados an early advantage when she received a feed from Pritchard and bested the Valkyries goalkeeper in the 44th minute. Converse tied it at one in the 66th minute.

• Five different Tornados have scored a goal this season, while Nickels and Yuki Soga lead the team with two apiece. Pritchard, Sarah Fonger and Kasi Benskin have chipped in a goal each.

• Senior Brittany Webster seeks to continue her outstanding career after claiming the saves leader title in the South Atlantic Conference during the 2012 season. Webster has amassed five saves on the season with a 0.95 goals against average.

• BC has outshot its opponent, 43-30, including a 22-14 advantage in the first half.

• North Greenville is 1-2-0 on the season. The Crusaders dropped a 2-1 road decision to Young Harris Wednesday.

• This marks the fourth matchup in the last five seasons between the two squads. The Crusaders hold a 2-1 advantage, including consecutive 1-0 victories. BC blanked North Greenville, 1-0, in 2008.

• Brevard was tabbed to finish 12th in the 2013 preseason coaches’ poll in the SAC, while defending champion Lenoir Rhyne earned the top spot.

• The Tornados will be led by fifth-year coach Shigeyoshi Shinohara. Shinohara’s squad returns 16 players from last season.
