Men’s Golf Adds Bret McGaughey to 2008-09 Signing Class
Bret McGaughey is part of a great 2008 men's golf signing class.
Brevard, N.C. – The Brevard College athletics department along with the head men’s golf coach Dave Nelson are excited to announce the signing of Bret McGaughey to a National Letter of Intent to continue both his athletic and academic career at Brevard College beginning in the fall of 2008.
McGaughey hails from Laguna Beach, CA where he attended and played for Laguna Beach High School under Head Coach Scott Finn in the Orange Coast League.
“I’m so impressed with Bret’s back-to-back Orange Coast League Individual Championship,” stated Coach Finn. “His leadership on our team has been priceless. He has put the prestigious back into our program. What a great role model he has been to our entire team.”
McGaughey was the Orange Coast League Individual Champion in both 2007 and this year in 2008 as a senior. McGaughey led his team to the league championship with an impressive 12-1 match record this year. Over the past two seasons, McGaughey has been named as the team’s Most Valuable Player as both a junior in 2007 and a senior in 2008.
“We are extremely excited Bret will be playing for us next year. He is an outstanding ball striker that should produce excellent results at the collegiate level,” commented Head Coach Dave Nelson. “Bret, along with Mooresville High School standout Josh Nelson, now gives us two top notch recruits to add to an already outstanding roster for the upcoming 2008-09 season.”
