BC dropped fifth straight

Box Score

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn.- Brevard College freshman Ryan McPhillips scored a goal in his third consecutive game, but BC was unable to rebound from an early offensive attack from Carson-Newman and dropped a 7-1 decision in South Atlantic Conference action Saturday night in Jefferson City, Tenn.

The Eagles (4-2, 1-2 SAC) defeated the Tornados (2-6, 0-2 SAC) for the sixth consecutive time and had multiple players score two goals each on the evening. The Tornados dropped their fifth straight game and fall to 0-5 on the road this season.

Carson-Newman put the game out of reach early when it staked itself to a 3-0 lead by the 17th minute. Sindre Welo, Nico Noll and Ross Frame found the back of the net in the 2nd, 4th and 17th minute, respectively.

McPhillips provided the lone bright spot for the Tornados when he notched his team-high fourth goal at the 24:53 mark to make it a 3-1 match.

However, the Eagles overpowered BC in the second half by outshooting the Tornados, 16-0, and scoring three times in a five minute span to stretch the lead to 7-1.

Carson-Newman’s Welo, Frame and Kristian Speake each scored twice while Rumwald Le Guevel amassed three saves on the evening.

Carson-Newman held the advantage in shots, 25-4, while BC allowed a season-high seven goals despite a nine-save effort from Heath Turner.

The Tornados return to action Saturday, Oct. 5 at 4 p.m. when they battle Lincoln Memorial in a SAC match in Brevard, N.C.
