Seaman collects second Tornado Athlete of the Week award

Junior middle hitter led Tornados to 2-0 week

Volleyball middle hitter Brooke Seaman has been named Tornado Athlete of the Week for the 11th week of the 2008-09 athletic season. Seaman earned 28 of the 58 votes cast by visitors of, or 48.3%

Seaman, a junior from Spring Hill, Fla., led the way as Brevard went 2-0 last week. Wednesday Seaman tallied 18 kills and 3 blocks as the Tornados stormed back from a 2-0 deficit to beat Tusculum, 3-2. The win clinched a birth in the South Atlantic Conference for coach Brenda Skeffington's team, the first in program history. Saturday, BC again fell behind 2-0 but rallied for a 3-2 win over Columbia on the back of Seaman. This time the Florida native led all players with 15 kills.

Through matches played Saturday, Seaman leads the SAC in hitting percentage and blocks per game and is third in kills per game. The Tornados finish the regular season Tuesday night against North Greenville and start the SAC Tournament Thursday, at 2:30 p.m., against top-seeded Wingate.

The Tornado Athlete of the Week is determined by a fan poll on the frontpage of Candidates for the Tornado Athlete of the Week award are announced and voting opens every Saturday night at 10 p.m. Voting closes on Tuesday morning at 10 a.m.
