Volleyball's Perry wins Tornado Athlete of the Week

Senior setter Jami Perry of the Tornado volleyball team has been named Tornado Athlete of the Week for the 12th week of the 2008-09 season. Perry earned 66 of the 147 votes cast by visitors of BCTornados.com, or 44.9%

Perry, a senior from Greer, S.C., closed her Brevard College career last week with one final victory and an appearance in the South Atlantic Conference tournament, a program first. Tuesday against North Greenville, in her final home match, Perry tallied five kills, 26 assists and ten digs as the Tornados whitewashed North Greenville, 3-0. Thursday against eventual SAC Champion Wingate, Perry closed her career with 21 assists and 11 digs as the Tornados fell, 3-1.

Perry finished the season ranked 6th in the SAC in assists, averaging 7.86 per game. Under Perry's leadership, the Tornados won 14 matches, including the first three SAC wins in program history.

The Tornado Athlete of the Week is determined by a fan poll on the frontpage of BCTornados.com. Candidates for the Tornado Athlete of the Week award are announced and voting opens every Saturday night at 10 p.m. Voting closes on Tuesday morning at 10 a.m.
