Tornados Sweep Davis & Elkins on Day Two of Catawba Invitational

SALISBURY, N.C.- The Brevard College Tornados swept the Davis & Elkins Senators on the final day of the Catawba Invitational at Salisbury Community Park on Sunday, taking a 4-2 victory in the opener before handling game two 8-0 in five innings.

Game 1: Brevard 4, Davis & Elkins 2
The Tornados struck first with three runs in the top of the 4th and added an insurance run in the 6th on an Ally Davenport RBI single to take the win in the opener.

A two-run homer in the top of the 5th was the only blemish against BC starter Jamie Hrobak (W, 4-2), who tossed all seven innings while striking out five Senators.
Game 2: Brevard 8, Davis & Elkins 0
The Tornados jumped on Davis & Elkins for three runs in the top of the 1st inning thanks to an RBI double by Dallas Heaton and a run-scoring single from Casey Whitaker, who eventually scored on a passed ball.

Whitaker (W, 2-0) was masterful in the circle for BC, allowing just two hits and striking out three in the run-rule shortened game.

BC added a run in the top of the 2nd and three more in the 4th on RBI singles from Whitaker and Lauren Parker, and a sacrifice fly from Kinsey Parrish. Dallas Heaton provided the Tornados their eighth with a run-scoring single in the 5th.

The Tornados are back in action this week as they visit the Georgia College Bobcats for a doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon at Peeler Complex. First pitch for the opener is set for 4 p.m.
