Brevard Sweeps St. Rose in Day Two of TennisFest

HILTON HEAD, S.C.-  The Brevard women’s tennis team swept the College of St. Rose 9-0 while competing in the second day of the Spring TennisFest on March 3rd in Hilton Head, S.C.

Coach Nicole Bumgarner mixed up the No.1 and No.2 singles spots after Michelle Prata and Katie Daugherty won 8-0 against Paige Southwick and Gabriella Pizzanelli in doubles. The pairs split up to compete in singles play with  Prata at No.1 singles beating opponent Southwick 6-0, 6-1 while Daugherty faced Pizzanelli again in No.2 singles sweeping 6-0 in each set.

Three others included a 6-0 sweep in each set for Brevard. Claudia Hellman competed in No. 4 singles winning 6-0, 6-0 against Megan Stacklum while Nirvana Silva and Ana Drummond succeeded their opponents in No.5 and No.6 singles.

Silva and Hellman paired up to win in No.2 doubles over the Golden Knights Stacklum and Alyssa Haddad.

Jule Herman and Ana Drummond finished doubles play with an 8-1 win against Maggie Moran and Ashley Cunningham.

The Tornados will compete against Northwestern College at 8:00 a.m. in their third day of Tennis SpringFest on March 4.
