Newberry Captures Win Over Brevard

NEWBERRY, S.C.- Katie Daugherty wins her singles set to gain the Brevard College (1-7, -1 SAC) women’s tennis team their only point in an 8-1 loss against South Atlantic Conference rival Newberry Wolves (8-4, 4-1 SAC).

Daugherty stepped back into her No.1 singles spot after the team returned back from Brevard’s trip to Hilton Head last week. She took on the Wolves Susana Aguirre winning the first 6-1 and continued for the point in the second winning 6-3.

Michelle Prata and Daugherty paired up in doubles but Susana Aguirre and Romina Adum took the win 8-6.

Prata competed for the win during singles against familiar opponent Adum falling short 7-6 and 6-4.

Nirvanna Silva took on Ariel Strong during the No.5 set losing 6-4 in each game while teammate Ana Drummond lost during the last singles set 6-0 against Marina Ziehe in each.

Brevard returns to action while hosting Coker College in their second conference match up beginning at 2:00 p.m.
