BC Falls to Tusculum Despite Prata's 100th VictoryApril 6, 2014
BREVARD, N.C.- Brevard College senior, Michelle Prata helped the Tornados (4-10, 1-7 SAC) women’s tennis team gain their two points against Tusculum College (17-1, 8-0) on Sunday, April 6 as she earned her 100th career match win while playing the South Atlantic Conference team.
The Chapel Hill native played Pioneers Erin Mills in the No.2 spot resulting in extra sets to determine a winner. Prata lost the first set 4-6 against Mills but quickly came back in the second set at a 6-4 advantage. Michelle finished the match in the extra set winning 6-3 for the 100th victory.
Katie Daugherty was also able to win a team point as she beat the Pioneers Sarah Baker in the No.1 spot at 6-3, 6-2.
As doubles partners, Prata and Daugherty played Kate Hutchinson and Kaelee Heffner. The two were able to come within two points but couldn’t seize the win at an 8-6 match in the Pioneers favor.
Jule Henman played Hutchinson during the No.3 singles match knocking down two points in the first set at 6-2 and three in the second at 6-3.
Tusculum swept BC during doubles gaining at 3-0 into singles play.
The women’s tennis team will return back to action as they host Catawba on Wednesday, April 9 at 2:00 p.m. at the McCoy Tennis Complex.
