Tornados Win Season Finale

BREVARD, N.C.- The Brevard College ( 5-12, 2-9 SAC) women’s tennis team sent off senior, Michelle Prata with a 8-1 win over the Coker College Cobras (0-18, 0-11 SAC ) in the last South Atlantic Conference match of the season at the McCoy Tennis Complex on April 12.

Prata and Katie Daughtery led doubles in the No.1 spot winning 8-5 over Coker’s Jessi Campos and Sarah Elliott. Prata also won her final singles match against Ellion in the No.2 singles spot at 6-2, 6-4. This final win put Michelle at 102 singles career wins at Brevard College.

Michelle’s doubles partner Daughtery also continued from their doubles win into a singles win against Campos. Katie took the win in a straight set at 6-2, 6-4.

Brevard finished doubles with all three wins, putting them ahead at 3-0 going into singles.

Claudia Hellman secured the win for Brevard after winning her No.4 singles match against Faith Baxley. The two battled out the first set but the Tornados Hellman grabbed the win at 7-5 then won 6-1 in the second set for the win.

Nirvanna Silva and Ana Drummond anchored the line-up with two additional wins for BC. Silva and Drummond won their matches at 6-1, 6-0 to finish the match.

The Brevard College women’s tennis team ended their season in 8th place for the South Atlantic Conference.
