Tornados Rout Coker in Season Finale

HARTSVILLE, S.C – The Tornados posted a season-best 17 hits on their way to a 14-2 pounding of the Coker College Cobras at Tom J. New Field on Friday Afternoon.

The Tornados erupted for seven runs in the 5th inning on their way to scoring 14 runs while senior pitcher Kevin Hamilton threw a complete game for BC.

After falling behind 1-0 in the bottom of the 1st, BC regained the lead with two runs in the top of the 3rd to go ahead 2-1.

The Tornados then plated seven runs on seven hits and two Coker College fielding errors in the 5th. Chip Helton and Matthew Proffitt both singled to center to drive in two runs each and  give the Tornados a 9-1 edge.

The Cobras got a run back in the bottom of the 5th before the Tornados added five more runs on four hits in the top of the 9th to push the lead to 12 runs. Kody Spencer dealt the blow of the inning with a two-run single to left field.

BC starter Kevin Hamilton (W, 4-4) pitched a complete game to earn the win, scattering eight hits and two runs while striking out six in his final start.
