Prata, Reilly Named March Sports Spot Student-Athletes of the MonthApril 10, 2014
BREVARD, N.C. – Brevard College women’s tennis senior Michelle Prata and men’s lacrosse junior Andrew Reilly have been named the Sports Spot Student-Athletes of the Month for March. The award is presented by Sports Spot, in conjunction with the Brevard College Athletic Department.
Prata was voted the Female Student-Athlete of the Month by the BC head coaching staff over Kinsey Parrish of softball and Julia Gasston of women’s lacrosse.
The senior claims her third Student-Athlete of the Month award after finishing 5-3 at No. 1 doubles with partner Katie Daugherty in the month, including winning three straight doubles matches. Prata also won three singles sets consecutively against Dalton State College, Saint Rose and Northwestern College.
Reilly claims his first Student-Athlete of the Month award by besting Josh Mower of track & field and David Taggart of men’s tennis.
The junior goalie started all seven games for BC in March, and recorded a season-high of 29 saves against Belmont Abbey on March 5th. Reilly also saved 11 of 20 shots during the teams win over Tusculum on March 9th.
These two athletes will be presented with action shots recognizing their award, which will be displayed in the lobby of Boshamer Gymnasium for the entire school year. A total of eight female and male Sports Spot Athletes of the Month will be selected in the 2013-2014 academic year. The award is selected from qualified candidates each month by the athletic department staff.
