BREVARD, N.C. – Brevard college softball sophomore Jamie Hrobak and baseball senior Kevin Hamilton have been named the Sports Spot Student-Athletes of the Month for April. The award is presented by Sports Spot, in conjunction with the Brevard College Athletic Department.
Hrobak was voted the Female Student-Athlete of the Month by the BC head coaching staff over teammate Alyssa Miller and Katie Daugherty of women’s tennis.
The sophomore claims her second Student-Athlete of the Month award after recording eight wins with a 2.81 ERA in 13 appearances in April. The Mill Spring, N.C. native helped BC to a 10-2 mark in regular season play last month, earning all seven victories during the Tornados seven-game win streak.
Hamilton claims his second Student-Athlete of the Month award by besting Sebastian Strehl and Oskar Lundgren of the men’s golf team.
Hamilton finished the month 2-0 with a 1.33 ERA and 24 strikeouts in 27 innings on the mound last month. The Kannapolis, N.C. native threw two complete games, including a 12-strikeout performance in a 4-1 win over Pfeiffer on April 10.
These two athletes will be presented with action shots recognizing their award, which will be displayed in the lobby of Boshamer Gymnasium for the entire school year. A total of eight female and male Sports Spot Athletes of the Month will be selected in the 2013-2014 academic year. The award is selected from qualified candidates each month by the athletic department staff.
