Brevard routs St. John Fisher, 8-1

Hilton Head, S.C. - Day two of Brevard's spring break trip to the beach went as well as the first, as the Tornado men's squad drilled St. John Fisher, 8-1.

The Tornados (6-2) took all three double points. Konstantin Savelyev and Cole Altizer won their top flight pairs match over Tim Adler and Matt Aquino, 8-0. Heikki Riikonen and Jarred Fisher followed with an 8-1 win over Karl Schiefer and Mike O'Connor, and the No. 3 match also was a sweep, as Andrew Thompson and Nate Lyles took out Jake Van Buren and Jack Forrest, 8-0.

Riikonen swept Aquino in the top singles match, 6-0, 6-0, and Thompson won the No. 2 match over Adler by the same score. Altizer had no problem with Van Buren in the third flight, 6-1, 6-1, and Lyles dispatched of Schiefer at No. 4, 6-2, 6-3.

Shane Apps won the fifth flight for Brevard, 6-0, 6-0 over O'Connor. The only point for the Cardinals (1-1) came at No. 6, where John Whelehan beat Travis Wireback, 6-1, 6-0.

The third match of Brevard's Hilton Head excursion is Tuesday against Stonehill at 8 a.m. St. John Fisher plays Dickinson College Tuesday at 6 p.m.
