Carnie and Bush finish tied for 11th at the Carolina Sands Intercollegiate
Tornados take fifth out of the 16 teams in the two day event
White Lake, N.C. - The Tornados took part in the 16 team Carolina Sands Intercollegiate at the Carolina Sands Golf Course this past weekend. Grant Carnie and Thomas Bush both finished in a tie for 11th as the Tornados finished fifth in the tournament, 10 strokes ahead of host UNC Pembroke.
Overall, Brevard shot a 291 on day one and nearly matched that total with a 292 on the second day to post a 583, 7-over for the two day event. The Tornados finished 16 strokes behind tournament co-champions Barton College and Coker College.
Individually, Carnie and Bush both finished at even par for the tournament. Carnie shot a pair of 72s for the tournament, while Bush shot a first round 69, 3-under for the lowest score among Brevard golfers in the tournament. Bush followed with a second round 75 to finish tied with Carnie at 11th for his lowest finish of the season.
Joshua Davis carded a 75, 4-over on the first day and improved on day two to become only the second Tornado to shoot under par with a 71, 1-under to finish in a tie for 18th at 146.
Bret McGaughey also improved on his first day score of 76, 4-over to card a 74 on the second day to put him in a tie for 30th with teammate Thomas Rennie who carded a pair of 75s.
The final Tornado golfer in the tournament, Craig Galloway, opened with a 78 in the first round, then shot a 79 in round two to finish in a tie for 54th at 13-over, 157.
Brevard takes a week off before hosting the Independent Collegiate Invitational at the nearby Etowah Valley Country Club in Etowah, N.C. on April 13-14.
