Coach Reid welcomes three commitments to women's basketball team
Fisher, Watkins and Cutshaw commit to play for Brevard in 2009-10
Brevard, N.C. - The Brevard College Athletic Department, along with Coach Shannon Reid, are pleased to announce the addition of Hayley Fisher, Asheley Watkins and Alyssa Cutshaw, to the Tornados women's basketball team for the 2009-2010 season.
Fisher comes to Brevard by way of Rosman High School in Rosman, N.C. A four-year varsity starter for the Tigers, the 5-9 combo guard/forward received First Team All-WNC in both her junior and senior years and was an All-Conference award winner throughout all four years of school. Fisher also was a three-time All-Conference recipient in Volleyball during her time at Rosman.
In the classroom, Fisher was a TC Scholar and an NC Scholar, and was a member of both the National Honor Society and Beta Club.
Watkins joins the Tornados from Forest City, N.C. and East Rutherford High School. The 5-7 Cavaliers star was an All-County selection for two years and was also a member of the All-Conference team for two years. A Blue and White All-Star selection, Watkins was also named Defensive MVP for three years.
Off the court, Watkins received the K.O.P.E. Achievement Award and is a member of the National Honor Society.
Alyssa Cutshaw, a 5-5 guard from Thomasville, N.C., comes to Brevard from East Davidson High School. Cutshaw was an All-Conference recipient all four years of high school, an All-Region and All-County recipient her sophomore, junior and senior years, and an All-District selection in both her junior and senior years. She was also an All-Conference volleyball player for her two years.
In the classroom, Cutshaw was on the A and A/B Honor Roll and is a member of Beta Club.
The Tornados went 6-21, 0-16 SAC in their inaugural season as full members of both NCAA Division II and the South Atlantic Conference.
