Brevard, N.C. - The Brevard College Athletic Department and Coach Paul Thomson are pleased to announce the commitment of Scott McCormick to attend Brevard College and play tennis in 2009-2010.
McCormick, a 5-11 athlete from Adelaide, Australia, comes to the Tornados after lettering for two years at Wichita State where he went 13-13 in singles play, winning the Flight 7 championship at the Missouri Valley Conference Individual Championships.
McCormick also lettered in tennis at Marryativille High School. He went 26-3 in high school competition and won the 18 & Under singles and doubles "April Age" state tournament. McCormick also led his high school team to a National Championship in his senior year in 2006. McCormick joins the team after transferring from Wichita State.
"We are very excited about having Scott in the BC family," Coach Thomson had to say. "He is a great student and a strong athlete. His Division I experience has proven him battle-tested. He will add much to our program both on and off of the courts."
The Tornados men's tennis team went 15-4, 5-3 in the SAC, receiving the #4 seed in the 2009 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Tennis Championships in their inaugural season as members of NCAA Division II and the South Atlantic Conference.
