Crowe finishes strong in Men's 8000 Meters
Greenville, S.C.-The Brevard College Cross Country Team raced at the Furman Invitational Saturday October 10 in Greenville, S.C. The Tornados competed against runners from Furman, Marshall, Winthrop, Berry College, Tennessee Tech, Limestone College, The Citadel, Benedict, Montreat, Francis Marion, Roanoke, Presbyterian, Claflin University, Piedmont, North Greenville, Voorhees, Salem College, and UAB.
Christie Converso posted the best time for Brevard in the Women’s 5000-meter run, completing the course in 22 minutes and 31.71 seconds, giving her a 58th place finish in the 122-Woman field. Converso averaged 7:15.1 per mile. Chynna Shipp followed at 25:24.16. Hannah Beck crossed the line in 25:59.11. Furman’s Chloe Kowalski won the race in 18:20.71. The Paladins also won the team competition.
Matt Crowe ran the fastest for BC in the Men’s 8,000-Meter Race. The freshman averaged 5:38.9 per mile on the way to a 28:04.49 finish to place 24th in the 127-man field. Jon LaVelle ran for 30:57.35 and a 77th place result. Willie Jones followed in 32:08.03. Charles Spencer crossed in 32:42.43. Anthony McCaffery turned in a 33:48.84 time. Tiffen Tapia posted a 35:10.94 finish. Dan Modahl covered the course in 37:11.67 and Zach Hazen came in seconds later at 37:24.06. BC finished 11th in the team competition. Marshall’s Matt Schiffbauer won the race. The Thundering Herd also took the team title.
BC resumes racing Saturday October 24 at the Conference meet in Hickory, N.C.
