Brevard, N.C. - The Brevard College Sports Information Department and Coach Britne Stubbs are pleased to announce that Martika Elmore has committed to attend Brevard College this spring and will be eligible to participate in the 2010 softball season.

Elmore, daughter of Boris and Barbara Elmore, is a 5-10 pitcher from Fayetteville, N.C. where she attended Pine Forest High School before attending UNC-Pembroke for two years and playing softball for the Braves in 2008 and 2009. Elmore led the Braves in 2008 with 186.1 innings pitched, while posting a 1.95 ERA, and compiling a 22-5 overall record while going 9-0 in the Peach Belt Conference.

In 2008, she tallied 237 strikeouts to just 93 walks, finishing second in the conference in strikeouts, third in appearances, and fourth in innings pitched earning Peach Belt Pitcher of the year honors. In addition, she was named to the All-Peach Belt Conference Team, the NFCA All-Region South Atlantic Team, the 2008 Daktronics All-South Atlantic Team, and the NCCSIA All-State Team.

Coach Stubbs is excited to add another to her 2010 roster and says, “We are happy to add depth to our pitching staff, and welcome her to the Brevard College Softball family. She will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the mound immediately, and that is what we will need to continue to grow."

Last year the Tornados finished 17-27 overall, and 2-14 in the South Atlantic Conference, qualifying for the conference tournament their first year as full members. They begin this season on February 6 at home against Milligan at 1:00 p.m.
