Brevard tied the game at the 6:44 mark on a Wharton free throw and then at the 4:47 mark, once again with Wharton at the line.
Brevard then took their first lead of the game with 4:24 remaining in the half when Flippo drained a three off of a skip pass from Schlobohm.

Mars Hill began the second half with a 7-0 run to regain the lead five minutes in. Following a Brevard timeout, a Brianna Worley three sparked the Tornados at the 14:31 mark. A 13-2 run ensued that resulted in a ten point Brevard lead halfway through the second.

Despite Harvey’s 13 second half points the Tornados would hold on to their lead, adding ten points from the free throw line in the last two minutes. Brevard shot 85 percent from the free throw line in the second half, averaging 77 percent for the game.
