Men's Tennis falls to UNC Asheville, 7-0
Asheville, N.C. - The Tornados fell on Saturday afternoon at the Crowne Plaza Tennis Center on the campus of UNC Asheville, dropping all matches against the Bulldogs in falling 7-0.
Brevard drops to 0-2 on the young season, while Asheville improves to 2-2.
In doubles play, the Tornados top team of Scott McCormick and Cole Altizer fell to Jonas Brobeck and Matt Waissen, 8-5. Nathan White and Nicolia Nonnenbroich topped Brevard’s Jarred Fisher and Jonathan Kuhn in #2 doubles, falling 8-2. Andrew Thompson and Shane Apps fell in the third flight to the combination of Adrien Langeard and Thomas Rees, 8-2.
In singles play, McCormick fell to Waissen in straight sets in #1 singles, 6-4, 6-3. Nonnenbroich topped Kuhn in #2 singles, 6-2, 6-3, while Thomson fell to Brobeck, 6-1, 6-0 in #3 singles. Fisher fell to Rees, 6-3, 6-2, in #4 singles, and Altizer dropped straight sets to Ryan Matthews, 6-3, 6-3. Apps was defeated in #6 singles, 6-2, 6-3, to close out the match.
The Tornados are back in action on Friday, February 26th, as Brevard hosts Lander at the BC Tennis Complex, with matches slated to start at 2:30 p.m.
