ROCK HILL, SC - Brevard College's Lindsay Hostetter became the first Tornados women's tennis player to be named the South Atlantic Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week, receiving the award for the week ending March 15, 2010.
Hostetter, a sophomore from Livonia, Mich. (Livonia Stevenson HS), helped guide the Tornados to a 2-0 week at Hilton Head, S.C., winning all four of her matches. Brevard extended its winning streak to six in a row since opening the season by falling to Division I opponents UNC Asheville and Western Carolina.
Hostetter combined with Claire Dillman at No. 2 doubles and defeated Meredith Pierson/Mia Winterbottom from Pembroke, 8-3, and Jenny Greene/Emily Pelosi from Baldwin-Wallace, 8-0.
Playing No. 2 singles, she clinched the win for Brevard against Pembroke, defeating Mia Winterbottom 7-5, 6-0, and defeated Baldwin-Wallace’s Jenny Greene in straight sets, 6-0, 6-1.
