Atlanta, Ga. - The 2010 Tornados Cycling team opened up the spring road season hosted Georgia Tech, as Brevard competed against six teams in the Georgia Tech Race.
The event opened up with the team time trial on March 13th, as the Tornados men finished fourth overall, three minutes behind race winner Furman University.
The first road race also took place on the 13th and the men were led by Corey Meyer as the BC athlete finished seventh overall in the Men’s A division. Tristan Cowie was close behind, finishing just out of the top 10 in 13th, while Matt St. Marie crossed the line in 17th. Marshal Hartley recorded a top 20 finish for Brevard to round out the Men’s A Group. In the Men’s B event, Tyler Crotts led the way with a fourth place result, while Cory Rimmer finished 18th overall for the Tornados.
Julia Tellman was the lone BC female rider in the Road Race event, finishing sixth overall behind a host of riders from Lees-McRae College.
In the second day of the Road Race on March 14th, Cowie led the Tornados, finishing 12th overall in the Men’s A bracket, while St. Marie and Meyer finishing in the top 20. Hartley rounded out the group with a 26th-place result. Cory Rimmer had an outstanding second day, jumping up to sixth overall in the Men’s B division, while Tyler Crotts recorded a DNF.
Tellman moved up one spot for the Tornados in fifth place in the second day of the road races.
The Tornados will head back on the road at Furman University on March 27th.
