Huntsville, Ala. - The Tornados cycling team continued their 2010 spring road race schedule this past weekend at the University of Alabama-Huntsville, competing against six teams in the event.
Leading off was the Team Time Trial, which took place on April 10th, as the Tornados men’s cycling team finishing fifth overall in the event with a time of 19:23.
In the Road Race event, which also took place on the 10th, Corey Meyer led the way with a podium finish, finishing 1:02 behind Mars Hill’s Matthew Willing to finish in fourth place in the Men’s A Group. Tyler Crotts led the way for Brevard in the Men’s B group, finishing 16th overall among the riders.
Julia Tellman was the lone BC female rider in the Road Race, finishing fourth overall in the event behind three riders from powerhouse Lees-McRae.
Sunday was a new day as the Tornados took the field in the Criterium event. Meyer again led the Tornados on the day, finishing fifth overall in the Men’s A Group. Matt St. Marie finished 13th overall and Marshall Hartley rounded out the group in 29th. The Men’s B Division saw BC’s Crotts finish third overall.
On the women’s side, Tellman recorded a third-place result.
The Tornados are back on the roads next weekend as they travel to Mars Hill, N.C. to take part in the Mars Hill race.
