Brevard, N.C. – The Brevard College baseball team finished their 2011 campaign on a winning note by taking down Montreat College on Wednesday evening. The Tornados were able to score 10 runs on 14 hits to defeat the Cavaliers 10-3 on Senior Day. Both Ronald Patterson and Jacob White had outstanding performances in their final games as Tornados.
After falling behind 2-0 in the opening frame, Brevard tied things up in the first to make it 2-2.
The Tornados took the lead in the third when Steele Myers hit a solo home run over the left field fence. It was Myers’ fourth home run of the season and put Brevard up 3-2.
Christian Christopolous gave the Tornados a 4-2 lead in the fourth when he hit his second homer of the season.
The Tornados were able to add six more runs throughout the course of the game to pick up their 14th win of the season.
Jacob White picked up his third win of the season by throwing six quality innings for the Tornados. White was touched for two runs, both in the first inning, on four hits and struck out five. Michael Bradley closed things out for Brevard, pitching the final three innings for the Tornados. Bradley surrendered one run on two hits. Cody Walker was saddled with the loss for Montreat.
Randy O’Dell led the way for the Tornados offense going 4-for-5 with four RBI and a double. Myers and Christopolous each added a pair of runs scored to go with their homers while Kramer Clark and Brett Brinson each had a pair of base knocks in the win.
The Tornados finished 2011 with a record of 14-28. They graduate two, Jacob White and Ronald Patterson, and look to build on their success in the 2012 season.
