Greeneville, Tenn. - The Brevard College men’s golf team improved on their first round score at the Tusculum Invitational on Sunday at the Link Hills Country Club. After recording a first round total of 311, Brevard knocked three strokes off their total and improved a place as the Tornados finished 15th overall at the event hosted by Tusculum College.
Host Tusculum College won the event with a two round total of 566, 2-under par for the course as a trio of South Atlantic Conference schools finished in the top three as Wingate and Lincoln Memorial battled the Pioneers for the title. Brevard finished sixth among the conference schools in the action at the tournament, topping Mars Hill College in their first action in the spring.
T.J. Hoard led Brevard in the action on Sunday, knocking four strokes off his total to finish with a round total of 75, tops among all BC players on the day to finish in a tie for 53rd overall. Kim Koivu was the top ranked finisher for Brevard overall on the weekend, placing in a tie for 28th overall among the 99 athletes who took the field, as the freshman from Helsinki, Finland finished the round on day two with a 76.
Thomas Rennie and Michael Stamper also improved on their first round scores, knocking strokes off their rounds as Rennie carded a 77 for the day, while Stamper finished with a second round score of 80.
Diego Ortiz rounded out the group, finishing with a two day total of 167 in his first tournament with the Tornados.
Brevard returns to the road on Monday, March 19th, as the Tornados travel to Wilson, N.C. for a two day tournament hosted by Barton College.
