Conover, N.C. - Kim Koivu bounced back from a tough first day, earning four birdies in the final round to finish on the All-Tournament team at the 2012 Food Lion SAC Men’s Golf Tournament, while the Brevard College men’s golf team finished ninth overall in the team standings.
Brevard continued to lower their score in each of the three rounds, dropping two strokes from their total in each round, culminating in the final round 312 to finish the event with a 942, 78-over par in topping SAC opponent Mars Hill.
Koivu, who recorded scores of 75 and 76 in the first round, responded with a final round 74 to finish in a five-way tie for 10th overall in the tournament, improving by three spots on the day.
Thomas Rennie added two birdies in his final round wearing the blue and white for the Tornados, finishing the afternoon with a 77, 5-over par to finish the tournament tied for 20th, as the senior finished 14-over par, 230 over the three rounds.
Michael Stamper and T.J. Hoard finished within one stroke of each other on the final day with Stamper, carding an 82 on the day, tying for 39th over the tournament, while Hoard finished the last round with an 83, tying for 41st with a score of 248, 32-over par.
Diego Ortiz rounded out the group at the Rock Barn Golf & Spa under Coach David Nelson, recording his lowest round of the week with a 79 on the final day, to finish with a 252 over the three round, 36-over par on the afternoon.
