Brevard, N.C.- Junior goalkeeper Brittany Webster recorded a career-high 16 saves in a 3-1 loss to USC Aiken at Brevard College on Saturday.
Webster was able to slow a relentless Pacer attack that included 19 shots on goal with a brilliant performance between the posts, keeping the game in a scoreless tie until the 26th minute. USC Aiken freshman Megan Smits found the back of the net at 26:17 to give the Pacers a 1-0 lead.
USC Aiken would strike twice more to make it 3-0, thanks to goals by Alex Cohen at 34:55 and Kim Beyer at 69:44.
The Tornados were able to get the ball moving offensively in the second half, putting three shots on goal after the break. BC got on the scoreboard when Megan Jenkins scored an unassisted goal in the 78th minute. Jenkins beat the defense for a one-on-one opportunity and chipped the ball high above the reach of USC Aiken keeper Alli Edens.
The BC women return to action on Tuesday against the Young Harris Mountain Lions on the road at 4 p.m.
