Brevard, N.C. - The BC women's soccer team dropped their South Atlantic Conference home opener 4-0 to the Mars Hill Lions on Saturday afternoon.
The Tornados were unable to find the back of the net despite firing 11 shots, including three shots that landed on goal. Lizzie Graham, Alexis Griffis and Chantel Azevedo each had shots on goal for the Tornados. Lions keeper Chelsea Parker collected three saves to earn the shutout.
The BC defense played the Lions tight early in the game, keeping the relentless Mars Hill offensive attack off the board until 27:42 when Alyssa Morris made it 1-0. BC rebounded and kept the Lions scoreless for the rest of the half, entering the break only trailing by one goal.
The Lions came out of the break with a charge offensively, beginning with Hannah Russell's goal at 51:40. The Lions would then score two goals late in the game, with Aerial Ellis scoring at 81:47 on an assist from Alyssa Morris before Sandra Megill made it 4-0 on an assist from Hannah Russell at 89:07.
The Tornados are back in SAC action against Tusculum on Wednesday, September 26th at 7 p.m.
