Brevard, N.C.- The Brevard College Tornados fell to the Wingate Bulldogs in four sets in Boshamer Gymnasium on Tuesday night, 25-19, 25-12, 20-25, 25-19.
Susie Murach posted 13 kills at a .310 hitting percentage to lead the Bulldogs. Anna Hilton and Lexi Potter combined for 20 kills to help Wingate win their 12th consecutive match.
The first set saw the scored tied seven times, but Wingate closed the match on a 12-7 run to gain the late edge.
The Bulldogs won the first seven points in the second set, and eventually took a 15-3 lead. As a team, Wingate hit .333 in the commanding victory.
Brevard responded by taking the third set, thanks to a 4-0 run by the Tornados with the game tied at 15-15. Kortney Conner finished the set with a kill, and the Tornados hit .318 as a team to earn the set win.
The fourth set started off with the two teams trading points until Wingate went on a 6-0 run to take a 14-9 lead. Brevard couldn’t recover, and a BC service error sealed the win for the Bulldogs.
Fatima Gharachorloo led the way for the Tornados with 12 kills and nine digs. Conner was another key contributor for BC, also chipping in nine and 11 kills at a .258 hitting percentage.
BC continues their home stand as they host the Carson-Newman Eagles on Thursday, November 1st at 6:30 p.m. Wingate returns to action Friday, November 2nd to host the Newberry Wolves at 7 p.m.
