Brevard, N.C.- Carson-Newman's Antoine Davis hit a free throw with 4.9 seconds remaining in regulation to send the game into overtime tied at 65-65 before the Eagles edged Brevard 74-69 in the extra period in Boshamer Gymnasium on Wednesday night.
BC's Manzey Miller had hit a go-ahead three with just over 10 seconds remaining in overtime to give the Tornados a 65-64 lead.
The Eagles took the lead just over a minute into overtime on a trey by Davis, and never trailed in the five-minute period. Davis led all scorers with 25 points in addition to eight rebounds. The junior finished 10-of-22 from the field, including 4-of-7 from three-point range.
Dominique Pickett led the Tornados with 23 points and a team-high eight rebounds. Miller scored all 14 of his points after the break, and fellow freshman Alex Moe finished with 14 points and seven boards.
The Tornados led by as many as 14 points in the first half, and took a 36-28 advantage into the break.
The Eagles, however, scored twelve unanswered points midway through the second half to take a 51-48 lead on a Davis three.
The Tornados look to rebound as they visit the Tusculum Pioneers in Tennessee on Saturday at 4 p.m.
