KOIVU LEADS TORNADOS TO IRISH CREEK INTERCOLLEGIATE WIN

Kannapolis, N.C.- The Brevard College men’s golf team clinched a tournament win at the Irish Creek Intercollegiate, led by a three-under round of 68 by Kim Koivu. The sophomore earned a first-place individual finish with the performance.

The Tornados shot a 12-over par 296 as a team on the 6, 971-yard, par 71 layout to finish four shots ahead of the Erskine College Flying Fleet.

BC freshman Johan Nordahl tied for 5th with a 73, shooting a 34 and a 39. BC freshman Paul Calac finished tied for 24th with a 77, while fellow freshman Sami Vanni finished one stroke behind with a 78.

The second and final round of the tournament, originally scheduled for today, was cancelled due to inclement weather.

The men’s golf team is back in action on March 18th and 19th as they compete in the Barton Intercollegiate in Wilson, N.C.
