Anderson, S.C.- The Anderson University Trojans defeated the Brevard College women’s basketball team 56-40 at Abney Athletic Center in South Atlantic Conference play on Wednesday night.
Tuccoa Brackett scored 23 points to tie her career high but no other Tornado reached double figures in the loss. The freshman had 13 points before the break.
After a 2-2 tie just over a minute into the game, the Tornados led through the early part of the first half until Anderson’s Alissa Diaz hit a free throw with 7:45 left in the half to tie the game at 14-14.
The Trojans went on a 15-2 run following the Diaz free throw, and were ahead for the rest of the contest. Anderson took a 30-21 lead into the half.
The Tornados cut their deficit to seven early in the second half, but the Trojans used a 16-3 run to extend their lead into double digits for the game’s duration.
Brevard wraps up the 2012-2013 season in Boshamer Gymnasium on Saturday as they host the Tusculum Pioneers for Senior Day. The Tornados will honor seniors Tempestt Mack, Candice Fritz, Asheley Watkins, Micheala Watkins, Alyssa Cutshaw and Katelynne Poole.
The Tornados fell short 61-60 at Tusculum on February 2nd despite a late comeback.
