HARTSVILLE, S.C.- Despite jumping out to an early 1-0 lead, the Brevard College men's soccer team was unable to sustain the lead while Coker rattled off six unanswered goal to win, 6-1, in a South Atlantic Conference match Saturday night at Coker Soccer Field.
The Cobras (9-5-2, 6-4-1 SAC) solidified their postseason position with the win while the Tornados (5-11, 3-8 SAC) scored for the first time in three matches despite the loss.
Freshman Ryan McPhillips tallied his team-high fifth goal of the season in the third minute when he headed a ball into the back of the net following a free kick from Alec Goettl.
However, Coker responded with three goals before the half ended including one in the fifth minute.
The Cobras continued the offensive attack by tallying three more goals in the final 45 minutes.
Coker's Daniel Jackson had an excellent game while he notched 10 shots and scored four goals. Goalies Kyndle Cobb and Marc Nankervis combined for seven saves.
BC's Marcelo Betcer paced the squad with three shots while freshman Heath Turner made seven saves.
The Cobras outshot the Tornados 22-7.
Seniors Pauli Jussila, Adam Martin, Jami Uuttu and Paulo Silva concluded their Tornado careers.
