HICKORY, N.C.- The Brevard College Tornados went down in straight sets to the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears in South Atlantic Conference volleyball action from Shuford Memorial Gymnasium on Tuesday night. The Bears took the match by scores of 25-19, 28-26 and 25-20.
After falling behind 1-0 to start the match, BC moved in front 20-12 on a kill by Savannah Cox in the second set. The Bears responded with five straight points as part of a 10-2 run to tie the set at 22 all.
BC eventually regained the lead at 26-25 before L-R edged BC with three straight points. The Bears were able to maintain the momentum for a 25-20 win in the third set to clinch the momentum.
Senior Erin Rollins paced BC with eight kills followed by Joy Oswalt’s seven.
Aleksandra Vrvilo recorded a match-high 20 digs for the Tornados. Kayla Hanus notched a double-double with 14 digs and 26 assists.
The Tornados return to action on Friday as they visit the Lincoln Memorial Railsplitters in Tex Turner Arena on Friday night. The Railsplitters took the first meeting 3-1 in Boshamer Gymnasium on October 11th.
